LegalTech Fusion 2026: International Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) at our Faculty

LegalTech Fusion 2026: International Blended Intensive Programme

This week, our Faculty is hosting a group of nearly forty participants of the latest edition of the BIP, the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme. The theme of this edition is “LegalTech Fusion: Navigating the Legal Frontier of AI.”

The programme is devoted to one of the most important contemporary challenges facing law and legal professionals: the impact of artificial intelligence on the administration of justice, legal regulation, financial markets, tax law, fundamental rights, and the future of the legal professions.

This year’s edition brings together students from partner universities in Czechia, Lithuania, Romania, and Uzbekistan, as well as guests from Kazakhstan and Morocco, whom we are hosting this week at the Faculty. The classes are taught by lecturers and experts from Poland, India, Lithuania and Uzbekistan. The international and comparative character of the programme allows participants to examine the challenges posed by artificial intelligence from the perspectives of different legal systems, academic traditions, and practical experiences.

The BIP is headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr habil. Edvardas Juchnevičius.

Today at 10:00, the official opening of the Programme took place. It was conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr habil. Marcin Wiszowaty, Deputy Dean for International Cooperation and Development of the Faculty. At 11:00, the first series of lectures and workshops began.

As part of the programme, participants will take part in lectures, workshops, an Oxford-style debate on artificial intelligence in the courtroom, and group project presentations. The motion of Tuesday’s Oxford-style debate, in which our guests and members of the Ars Bene Dicendi Debating Club will participate, is: “This House believes that it is better to be judged by an algorithm than by a human judge.”

An important part of the programme will also be an encounter with Gdańsk itself, a city whose history clearly shows how strongly law, economy, and international cooperation shape the life of an urban community. The walk through the historic city centre will therefore be not only an opportunity to discover one of the most beautiful cities on the Baltic Sea, but also a chance to look at Gdańsk as a place where different cultures, legal traditions, and experiences of freedom have met over the centuries.

The programme also includes elements promoting Polish culture. On Tuesday afternoon, a culinary workshop will take place. This initiative began with making and cooking pierogi together with students from Uzbekistan. Later, it continued with the preparation of a Central Asian dish. This time, our international guests, under the guidance of the Head Chef of Le Grand Buffet Restaurant, located on the ground floor of the Faculty building, will take on the challenge of preparing three Polish dishes.

We would like to thank the Office for Cooperation and Internationalisation of the University of Gdańsk and the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Law and Administration for their organisational support for this undertaking.

We warmly welcome all participants to the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk and wish them a fruitful week filled with inspiring discussions, new academic contacts, and good memories of Gdańsk.

Please follow our social media channels, where we will be sharing updates on upcoming events held as part of the BIP.
